Pastel

Trend of the week: Pastel

Over the past year, unconventional hair colour has made a shift from the underground into the fashion spotlight. We’ve seen it all; pink, purple, turquoise, yellow, silver and rainbow, bold, bright, faded and dip dyed.

Like it or not, avant-garde colour is everywhere; it’s gracing the front cover of magazines, it’s taken over fashion blogs and it’s cavorting down runways.

Recently, a different breed of coloured hair has been cropping up – bright hues have been traded in for softer pastel tones, just in time for winter. The Peter Alexander mothers day catalogue showcased pastel pink and purple nanna style hair, while stylist Gwyneth Tang’s faded pink and turquoise dipdye reminds us of cotton candy.

If you’d rather not make such a daring statement, we recommend embracing the pastel trend more subtly by trading in your red lipstick, bold eyeliner and dark nails for pretty pastel hues.

Our recomendations? We love the nailpolish in Mac’s new Quite Cute Collection and Nars Lipstick in Roman Holiday.
